Habits to Build Discipline
Time-Blocking
Get a daily planner and map out every single hour of each day.
That way you don’t need to think and you can focus on what you need to do.
Doing Hard Things (Often.)
Anything that you don’t feel like doing but have to do works.
It’s things that take effort and focus that we don’t want to do. Don’t let yourself be conditioned by your phones and algorithms.
The dopamine you get from those takes absolutely no effort at all and doesn’t benefit your life. The more you teach your brain discipline, the more it’ll enjoy doing hard things. You’ll enjoy progress instead of comfort and pleasure. That’s the way your mind was wired anyway.
There isn’t any specific habit, but in general… You should practice discipline often. Focus on delayed gratification.
Habits to Boost Confidence
Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone
Confidence is built through competence.
Prove to your mind that you have what it takes. You have to constantly gain new experiences and failures so that your mind can be confident. You’ll become aware that failure is normal and that you can get up every time you fall down. Confidence is proof of past successes, so fail constantly to gain experience.
If you’re afraid of failing, that’s like being afraid of learning how to walk because you might trip.
You won’t get anywhere if you don’t try. You’ll just be stuck in the same place you’ve been standing. And that’s much worse than failing over and over again until you get it right.
You don’t have unlimited time. Have some urgency for once.
Shadow Work/Self-Reflection
Confront the things about yourself that you’ve been avoiding or repressing.
Work to find the causes of faulty beliefs about yourself and become aware of them. A lot of what ruins people’s confidence is past “trauma.”
Bad experiences with people treating them horribly which led them to believe they aren’t capable or worth much. If that’s you then you need to become aware of these things and measure yourself by your own standards.
Stop being so reliant on the opinions of others. Out work your doubt.
Habits for Personal Development
Always Learn Something New
How much time you spend learning will directly affect your quality of life.
You are better equipped to handle every type of situation as long as you’ve gained knowledge about it. Learning new skills brings financial stability and personal satisfaction.
This should be a priority. Never refuse a chance to learn something new and always push your limits.
Always Try Your Best
Aren’t you curious what you would look like in life if you genuinely tried your best?
Don’t come at me with “I need a break.” No.
If you aren’t where you want to be then I don’t believe when you say you’re trying.
The universe is very giving and fair, but only to those who put the work in. Not those who wallow in self-pity or give up. Always keep an optimistic view of the world as that’s the best way to stay motivated and overcome challenges.
What would your life look like if you ONLY did the best move possible?
A lot of people waste time or don’t try their best, but… why not? Why not go all out every single time? You’re only getting a benefit if you do. You’ve already committed to spending time doing that certain activity.
Habits to Increase Energy
Sunlight Exposure
Get 5-30 minutes of sunlight every day. You’ll feel a lot better.
You will have more energy and focus to handle the day and things will get done. It’ll also help with your sleep quality.
Exercise
Move so that you don’t feel as lethargic.
And do it often. Try not to stay sedentary for too long. I know when I sit down for too long, I start feeling a bit tired.
